This carbon fiber plate is intended for use in applications where the visual appeal of carbon fiber outweighs the needs of a high strength laminate. These laminates starts with a generous .020" layer of UV marine grade gel coat. Many of the other carbon fiber plates on the market are just clear coated which offers absolutely no UV protection, and will cause the color of the laminate to break down in 6-8 months. Additionally, we take the added measure of using "marine grade" gel coat which is intended to take the abuse of sunlight being magnified and reflected in the open sea.

The plates are laid up with 3K Carbon Fiber #284 supplied by Hexcel Inc. This carbon fiber is the common 2x2 twill pattern, often considered the most appealing by enthusiasts and engineers alike. The laminate features a special center line core material which creates a slightly resin rich lay-up to improve the overall clarity of the laminate.
